A long weekend!

Wow! It was a nice long weekend, and much needed!! I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday. I traveled to Norman, Oklahoma where I was in my cousins wedding. It was nice to be away for a while and especially to be with my family.

The wedding went wonderfully and everything turned out just as it should. We had so much fun and enjoyed celebrating this important time in their lives together.

My family also visited Bricktown and went out on the town. It had many nice restaurants, ice cream shops, the Sonic Headquarters!, and some really big nightclubs! We also visited the memmorial. Although I had seen it before, none of my family nor my boyfriend had been able to experience that yet, so it was a great trip for all of us.

Observation

Well, I have just completed my observation hours at the clinic. It has been a wonderful experience. Although I only saw intake sessions, it has been very beneficial. I hope to see more therapy sessions before I start practicum.

This weekend I was able to see my boyfriend. He brought my bike down so we could take a bike ride together. We went on some amazing trails and had so much fun!! There is the trail right here at Forest as well as a trail that runs from Springfield to Bolivar. It was long but we stopped and ate lunch and headed back to Springfield. He also took a mountain bike path and ended up getting a flat tire and had to carry his bike for over 30 min down the bike path! (I'm happy I wasn't with him on this trail!) :)

This weekend I will be going to my cousin's wedding in Oklahoma. I will be standing up as her Maid-of-Honor. This will be a wonderful time! She is the first one of us to get married!!

I hope you all enjoy the holiday weekend.

Golf Tournement, NAMI Walk, and ALS Awareness Volunteering

This week/weekend has been very busy!! On Saturday there was the NAMI walk, Miles for Minds advocating for helping those with mental illnesses. We provided hot dogs, chips, juice, and water for the walkers at the clinic. It was wonderful to see so many individuals walking to help raise awareness for those suffering.

On Monday and Tuesday, my younger brother had his state golf tournament and I received a wonderful sunburn. He ended up shooting an 86/87 for the two days. This was pretty good. He fell right in the middle of all the golfers, so this was pretty good! It was wonderful to have the tournament right here in Springfield at Deer Lake where I could go watch!

On Tuesday evening there was a volunteer opportunity at Cox North for ALS Awareness. This was a very informative and wonderful to learn about all the resources that are available to individuals struggling with this illness.

There are plenty of opportunities to become involved here at Forest, I recommend you take every chance you get!! Not only is it educational but it is an opportunity to meet and socialize with those whom you will be working with in the future!

Midterms

Well, midterms are just a week away! Getting prepared for these will be a task! It seems as if we have just started digging into the meat of the class and we already have midterms! I've been keeping up fine with the readings and such, but it is always nerve racking at this time of the term. It is the true test of how much knowledge you have accumulated thus far.

I also have begun to make way on my thesis! YAHOO!!! Hopefully I will have a proposal completed by June and then I can really feel I have accomplished something.

This week seems to be filled with many exciting events. The NAMI walk as a fundraiser is taking place at the clinic, the Wii tournament for Boys and Girls Town, the training grants as well as the Pick-A-Partner class. I am sure I will be very busy but will have lots of fun too!
